Well, well, well… look who finally decided to update this site.
It seems like I’ve developed a tradition—updating this site once a year. And guess what? It’s 2025, which means it’s that time again. Welcome to the annual update! 🎉
The “bhartzer” Identity Crisis (Or Lack Thereof)
Still using “bhartzer” as my handle all over social media. Sometimes, you’ll find me as “billhartzer” (shocking, right?)—like on Reddit or one of the Facebook pages I run.
Why? Branding, of course. Personal branding, to be exact.
Could I have gone with some mysterious alias, like “SEO_Ninja42” or “MarketingMaverick”? Sure. But honestly, why bother? I’ve always been transparent. No need to hide behind a random username when people already know it’s me posting.
The Missed Opportunity to Sell Out
Over the last 20+ years, I could have built some fancy brand name, amassed a following under it, and eventually cashed out—selling the whole thing, social media handles and all. But instead, I went with the radical strategy of being myself.
That’s right—over 1,000 published articles, 1,000+ blog posts on BillHartzer.com, and way too many social media posts (seriously, I stopped counting). And all of it has been me—no pseudonyms, no alter egos. Well, unless you count ghostwriting for clients, but that’s different.
The Takeaway?
If you’re thinking about building your personal brand, take a page from my book: Use your real name. Own it. Post under it. Make it synonymous with what you do. Because after 25+ years, I can tell you this—authenticity lasts longer than trends.
And if I keep this tradition up, I’ll see you for the next annual update in 2026. 🚀
